Dr. Robert E. Anderson


Dr. Robert E. Anderson, a native of Suffolk, Virginia, and graduate of Suffolk High School, is a Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. An honor graduate of both Old Dominion University and the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, he was one of 12 dental students nationwide awarded a United States Naval Dental Scholarship.

Upon completion of an orthodontic residency at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, Lieutenant Commander Anderson served in Rota, Spain as an orthodontist in the United States Naval Dental Corp and was one of only five orthodontists serving worldwide. After two years of practicing orthodontics in the United States Navy,
Dr. Anderson returned home to open his private practice as the first full-time dental specialist in Suffolk. Known for his commitment to excellence and compassionate care for each individual, Dr. Anderson has been bringing smiles to his patients' faces for over 20 years.

Dr. Anderson’s commitment to his community is just as strong as his commitment to his profession. A firm believer in church and community, he is actively involved in the Suffolk Rotary Club (Past District Governor, Past President), Suffolk Youth Athletics Association (coach and sponsor), and Suffolk YMCA (coach and member), Western Tidewater YoungLife and WyldLife (Past Committee Board Member), Past Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Sunday school teacher, Lay Preacher, teacher of dental health in local area schools, and currently serving on the Board of Trustees for Nansemond Suffolk Academy (Chairman of Academy Life Committee).

As a devoted husband and father, you will often see him coaching or attending his children’s games and school activities with his wife, Becky. They have been blessed with three children and recently their first grandchild. He enjoys sailing, golf, hunting, and horseback riding.

Dr. Anderson has dedicated his practice of orthodontics to providing individualized care and treatment within the highest academic standards for every patient. He understands that the decision you make for a beautiful smile is for a lifetime.
